SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, that is used to validate if an e-mail message was sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a domain will stop the forging of email addresses made with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain name creates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send e-mail messages from mailboxes using the domain. As soon as this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever an e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies whether it originates from an authorized server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, but if it doesn't come from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it appear as if you're distributing spam. This technique is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud platform with only a couple of mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our revolutionary Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down list and type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be permitted to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you can also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option gives you the highest standard of security, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are handled in a different place. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to benefit from the SPF protection feature as a part of the conventional collection of services that you will receive with this kind of web hosting. Starting the protection will require just a few simple steps in the Hepsia Control Panel, so even in case you haven't used this type of function before, you won't have any kind of troubles. Using a very user-friendly interface, you'll just have to enter the details of the mail server that will be permitted to send out messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). As soon as the recently created record propagates, nobody will be able to counterfeit any email for that particular domain and send out emails from a server other than the one you've entered. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, still when we take care of your email messages, you can enable an extra level of security by picking an option that email messages can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only if the domain employs our MX records. Our tech support team will be able to help you 24/7 in case you have any questions related to this service.
